You’re driving along. You’ve had a few too many drinks. You’re in Lynnwood, Bothell, Everett, or anywhere else in Washington. You swerve slightly. The concerned motorist behind you calls 911. Later that evening you find yourself walking a line and being asked for a BAC test. This is not uncommon.

From the Kitsap Sun

Two men were arrested over the weekend after 911 callers observed them driving erratically, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Just after 6 p.m. Saturday, a driver reported a car crossing the centerline repeatedly while driving south on Highway 3 near the Bremerton airport. A trooper caught up to the car, Read More about 911 Calls for DUI

Quite often you find yourself wondering what, if anything, you will end up charged with. Well last week a car full of suspects on their way to Seattle’s Hempfest found themselves on the end of a bunch of arrests, and yet, a VERY lucky break. You may not be as lucky.

From the Tribune:

Car full of suspects
Aug. 15 — An officer on patrol conducted a routine Department of Motor Vehicles check on a Volkswagon Bug near state Route 16 and Wollochet Drive. The registered owner of the car, who matched the description of the driver, was stopped for questioning. Two passengers also occupied the car. The officer discovered the trio was en route to the Read more about .07 BAC

Statewide DUI emphasis patrols are on their way into your neighborhood. DUI patrols will be picking up in Lynnwood, Everett, Bothell, and more areas as part of the yearly Labor Day “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed” campaign. Make sure you understand what this is really all about before you have that last drink for the road – the penalties, pitfalls, and problems – and really why NOBODY should drink and drive – and make sure you’re armed with the name of your preferred DUI attorney if you DO plan on drinking and driving.

From the Daily Evergreen

“Funded by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed” pays overtime for interested police officers from the WSU Police Department, the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol to increase patrols during the three-week period.

It’s not just in major cities like Seattle that drugs and the economy have driven people to desperate criminal measures. The spectre of drug addiction is present in nearly every large criminal case I’ve seen. And adding to it these tough economic times only serves to make it easier to feel so hopeless that you have to go off and do something to survive. Consider that Lake Stevens is a small community not unlike Lynnwood, Bothell, Mill Creek, Lake Forest Park, and that crime happens everywhere.

From the Everett Herald

“EVERETT — A Lake Stevens man is accused of committing as many as 30 armed robberies in Snohomish and King counties.

It’s nice to know that the Washington Toxicology Lab isn’t the only governmental agency that is more concerned with convicting you of DUI than of doing their jobs right and engaging in good science. Yet another breath test scandal has emerged, this time throwing out breath tests on the other side of the country.

From the Orlando Sun-Sentinel

“FORT LAUDERDALE – Because a state inspector was fired for interfering with inspections of breath-test machines, a Broward judge ruled Friday that results from one of the devices cannot be used in a drunken-driving case before him.
