WSP DUI and Cover-Up?
Today’s Washington DUI story comes to us from the “it could happen to anyone” files.
It seems that a veteran WSP sergeant got himself into a bit of an automobile accident while having consumed alcohol. After his accident – he tried to get a rookie trooper to come “help him out” – no doubt hoping that he wouldn’t end up in cuffs. Read more about WSP DUI
Tragedy on I-5 Linked to DUI
As a Lynnwood DUI Attorney, I know that drinking a driving is a horrible mistake that can cause terrible consequences. However, I also know that the public opinion towards DUI defendants is so skewed that it’s nearly impossible for them to get a fair trial. In many cases, if the conduct is sensational enough, the conduct is judged before the case is even charged.
Take for example, this morning’s crash outside Everett. Read more about DUI Fatality Crash
ARIDE – WSP’s New DUI Super Troopers
Look out potential Washington DUI clients – the Washington State Patrol has a new class of Super DUI Troopers – graduates of the ARIDE program.
But here’s the real question: what about the troopers who do NOT have ARIDE training? Are they less effective? Or are the ARIDE troopers just that much MORE effective?
Or is this just a WSP media blitz? I mean – if we can’t get breath tests admissible because we keep messing the science up, we better start creating supercops, right? Read more about ARIDE Super Troopers
It’s a Twofer!
As a Lynnwood DUI Attorney, I see a lot of interesting factual scenarios play out. However, I have to say that I’ve never seen anything quite like what happened in Fairbanks, Alaska this week.
According to the Associated Press:
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) – Alaska State Troopers needed just one traffic stop to make two arrests for drunken driving. Troopers said a highway patrol officer arrested a 42-year-old man for drunken driving after stopping him for speeding on Sunday. A short time later, a 29-year-old man arrived to take custody of the car. The officer determined he had driven to the scene while drunk.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported that the second man also had an outstanding warrant for failure to report to jail from a prior DUI.
Both drivers were taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center
