As a Lynnwood DUI Attorney and resident, I’ve seen the increased presence of WSP troopers out on the roads, both enforcing general traffic infractions, and of course, doing DUI arrests.

Never has this been more evident than with the new creation of the “Target Zero” task force I posted about earlier this month. Read more about Target Zero Catches 57

Target Zero – More DUI Arrests on the Way

Because King, Snohomish and Pierce County don’t feel as if they’ve arrested enough folks for DUI lately, they’re rolling out a new federally funded program, called “Target Zero” just in time for July 4th Weekend.

As a Lynnwood DUI Lawyer, I am interested to see if they are simply ramping up enforcement, or are going to be using any real “new” techniques to try to clear the road. They’ll be using the 21 troopers with the best records for arresting DUI drivers.

From The Seattle Times:

Just in time for the Fourth of July weekend, the State Patrol launched a new task force Thursday in three counties dedicated solely to hunting down intoxicated drivers and eliminating drunken-driving fatalities by 2030. Read more about Target Zero

Rash of High Profile DUI Cases

Yes – in King and Snohomish County DUI is all the rage right now. We have vehicular homicides, repeat offenders, and news articles galore.

From King5.com

SEATTLE– Just weeks before Christmas, Jerome Dumlao lost his life in a crosswalk in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood. Today, Eric Murillo, the drunk driver convicted of killing him, was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.

“You really took something special from me. I don’t think you will understand the pain my whole family is going through,” said a tearful Alida Linavat, sister-in-law to Dumlao.

Dumlao’s relatives think Murillo received too light a sentence for his crime of vehicular homicide.
“Murillo’s sentence will never come close to the life sentence of the pain of losing someone we love so dearly,” Jennifer Dumlao told Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Ramsdell. Read more about 10 DUI Convictions?!?

A Credit to his Profession

The Examiner sums it up right here. “What was he thinking?”

As a Lynnwood DUI Attorney, I’ve seen a lot of boneheaded things, but when you’re ALREADY in trouble for a few things – and a lawyer (who’s supposed to be intelligent) – brandishing a knife while DUI is a BAD idea.

This from the Examiner:

In the category of “what was he thinking”, Clallam County prosecutor wanna-be David Russell Fox was arrested today at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac) after brandishing a knife at a ticket agent. Fox was booked into King County Jail. Bail was set at $3,000. Read more about Boneheaded Lawyer

1000+ DUI cases hang in the balance

As a Snohomish County DUI Lawyer, I try to stay abreast of the cutting edge issues in DUI law – but furthermore – for my client’s sake – I try to be a part of any large challenges. You may have heard about this argument over “uncertainty” in Snohomish County. A small group of lawyers, myself included, hired Mr. Vosk to argue this highly scientific, yet very basic argument. One that has hundreds, if not thousands of Lynnwood DUI cases hanging on it.

If the BAC tests are flawed – shouldn’t we all be able to say they’re flawed? Read more about Uncertainty

Ninth DUI?

Wow. As a Lynnwood DUI Attorney, I’ve seen some clients who aren’t getting the message. But WOW.

This from the Olympian:

NORTH BEND, Wash. – A 48-year-old North Bend man sought on a warrant for his ninth drunken driving charge has been arrested at his home.

Washington State Patrol say troopers in King County arrested Stefhan Roy Castellano Saturday after he failed to appear in court May 5 on his ninth DUI charge. A $250,000 warrant had been issued for his arrest. The state patrol says Castellano was intoxicated when he was taken into custody. He was booked into the King County Jail Saturday.

It’s incredible that someone would be able to rack up NINE DUI charges and still manage to be out of custody. We all know the Washington DUI laws are draconian – but how do we not have him in custody?

Regardless – he’s going to need a skilled and talented DUI Attorney. If you need a skilled and talented DUI attorney, call Lynnwood DUI Attorney Jonathan Dichter at 425-424-9401 for your FREE CONSULTATION!

Why an Investigator is ESSENTIAL For your DUI Case

May 3, 2010 by Admin · Leave a Comment

As a Lynnwood DUI Attorney, I see police reports and conduct every single day. I am always looking for ways to enhance my practice, and learn new techniques to challenge the officer on his own grounds. For instance, this past weekend, I completed the NHTSA and IACP DWI Detection and SFST course. Now I can challenge the officer on his administration of those field tests, knowing that I likely understand them better than he does.

But regardless of how much knowledge I accumulate, I still use a Private Investigator on EVERY DUI case I take. Without fail. Yes. Even those .08s. Read more about DUI Investigators

WSP DUI and Cover-Up?

March 29, 2010 by Admin · Leave a Comment

Today’s Washington DUI story comes to us from the “it could happen to anyone” files.

It seems that a veteran WSP sergeant got himself into a bit of an automobile accident while having consumed alcohol. After his accident – he tried to get a rookie trooper to come “help him out” – no doubt hoping that he wouldn’t end up in cuffs. Read more about WSP DUI
