Labor Day Weekend DUI Wrap-Up

This past weekend, the Drive Hammered, Get Nailed initiative was back again in full force, and it appears to have done it’s job. Apparently, law enforcement made a number of arrests, and many were through citizen informants!

“This Labor Day Holiday Weekend it wasn’t just the cops looking for DUI’s. Washington State Troopers responded to 44, 911 calls initiated by motorists.

When the troopers were able to make contact with the suspect vehicles; 19 were DUI alcohol, one was DUI drugs, one was arrested on a warrant, and four were written tickets for traffic infractions.

Preliminary data shows a total of 296 DUI arrests compared with 292 arrests in 2008.”

So of 44 citizen calls – 25 led to arrests. Which brings up a great question. What about the 19 OTHER people who were pulled over for no reason whatsoever.
